Go bald for St. Baldrick's Image On Saturday, March 20, "shavees" at the Varsity Theatre stage will submit to the shears for the worthy cause of pediatric cancer research. This hair-razing fundraiser asks participants to have friends and family sponsor their head-shaving. Similar events in other states have so far generated more than $68 million for the cause. Fifteen minutes of F.A.M.E. at the Varsity

F.A.M.E. (Fashion, Art, Music and Entertainment) Saturdays at the Varsity Theatre continue this week with DJ Triz-A. Each week a new DJ will be spinning tunes while attendees can check out spring fashion previews. This week, it's a runway masquerade featuring intimate apparel from Prive Lingerie, and a special burlesque performance by the lovely ladies of Fleur De Tease. Doors open at 9 p.m., the fashion starts at 11 p.m. and the DJ set will go from 12 to 2 a.m. Tickets are $5 in advance and $10 at the door, with a portion of the show going towards the American Cancer Society.

YELP! Dog adoption day

YELPBR will hold one of their monthly adoption days this Saturday as part of their bid to end the euthanasia of healthy dogs in Baton Rouge. Purebred and mutt dogs will be available for adoption at the Red Stick Farmers Market, Acme Oyster House parking lot on Perkins Road, and the Lake Sherwood Shopping Center at the corner of Coursey and Sherwood.
