The 'Low' down
Robert Duvall brings a Smoky Mountains myth to life this Friday in limited release with Get Low. As reclusive hermit Felix Bush, Duvall emerges from isolation in rural Tennessee to give a sarcastic mortician played by Bill Murray a bizarre challenge: Throw me a funeral while I am still alive. Set in the 1930s and co-written by Mad Men staff writer Chris Provenzano and Blood Diamond scribe C. Gaby Mitchell, Get Low explores themes of loneliness, forgiveness and redemption as Duvall attempts to reconcile with those he lost along the way. "Every secret dies somewhere," the tagline reads, and Duvall's "funeral" proves only the beginning of his plans for a brand new start. Sissy Spacek co-stars. Rated PG-13.
Guess who's coming to 'Dinner'?
For Paul Rudd, raising his stock with the boss means more than results at the office in Jay Roach's new comedy Dinner for Schmucks, in theaters Friday. Rudd also has to find the biggest oddball idiot he can and bring him to a dinner where his colleagues have invited other equally awkward guests. Rudd hits the jackpot with a nerdy IRS agent played by Steve Carrell, but unfortunately for Rudd, inviting Carrell to dinner means inviting him into every aspect of his life. A supporting cast of buffoons gives comedians like The Hangover's Zach Galifianakis and Flight of the Concords star Jemaine Clement free license to freak out. Bruce Greenwood and Ron Livingston co-star as Rudd's callous co-workers. Rated PG-13.

Remember the 'Titans'
New on DVD this week is the razzle-dazzle remake of 1981's Clash of the Titans, staring Avatar hero Sam Worthington as Perseus, the earthbound son of Zeus. With nothing left to lose, Perseus chooses to rally a band of warriors and defend the planet from an invasion of evil forces and deadly creatures from Hades' underworld. This is a war of the gods with earthlings caught in the middle as Perseus battles his own fate and seizes control of his destiny while facing what seem like insurmountable odds. Liam Neeson stars as strong-willed Kraken-releaser Zeus, and Ralph Fiennes plays the duplicitous Hades. Gemma Arterton, Alexa Devalos, and Mads Mikkelsen co-star. Rated R.
