Let's Hangover

Let's Hangover Image Mixing Old School with Ocean's Eleven would be risky business for anyone other than veteran comedy director Todd Phillips. But Phillips' three leads in The Hangover, in theaters Friday, are all talented comic actors on the verge of stardom. Zach Galifianakis, who long toiled in cancelled TV series and his own fleeting talk show will break out as an A-list comedian this week. No doubt. And Wedding Crashers jerk Bradley Cooper and The Office's crooning, J.Crew addicted simpleton Ed Helms just might do the same. When these three groomsmen wake up in a Las Vegas hotel room, their groom is missing, there is a tiger and a baby in their room, and their heads are abuzz. The rest of the film is a zany romp through Sin City to figure out what went so hilariously wrong. Heather Graham and Jeffrey Tambor co-star. Rated R.

Get Lost

One of the most bizarre TV shows from the 1970s—and that's saying a lot—comes to the big screen this Friday with Land of the Lost. Will Ferrell stars as Dr. Rick Marshall, a park ranger who along with his research assistant and a hillbilly survivalist gets sucked into another dimension, one filled with prehistoric and fantastical creatures and cavemen. These could be the discoveries Marshall needs to boost his flailing career, but first he and his companions have to find a way to survive. Pushing Daisies' Anna Friel and Eastbound and Down and Pineapple Express star Danny McBride co-star. Rated PG-13.

The Road less traveled

American Beauty director Sam Mendes' breezy, indie comedy Away We Go gets a limited release this week, but his gut-wrenching megawatt period drama from 2008 is out on DVD now, too. Based on the novel by Richard Yates, Revolutionary Road reunites Titanic stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet as an unhappily married 1950s couple bucking against the fading glory of the American dream. The young husband and wife—he being a schlub who can't stand his job, and she dreaming of being an actress—move to France with their two young children and live a more bohemian existence in an effort to find themselves and a life they might enjoy. Kathy Bates and Michael Shannon co-star. Rated R.
