'Park' it Cajun-style Image The Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge's "Sunday in the Park" series kicks off this weekend Louisiana-style, with a Creole-blend double-bill of Cedric Watson and Feufollet. Free to the public at Lafayette Park downtown from noon to 3 p.m. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy a leisurely brunch provided by Sunday in the Park food vendors, then lounge by the banks of the mighty Mississippi as you enjoy some authentic Cajun sound. 225 will be there—we hope you will be, too!

Brothers in harmony

Soulful folk tunesters the Avett Brothers visit the River Center on their international tour for their new album, I and Love and You, out yesterday. Their soaring harmonies and odd folk-rock-bluegrass-pop blend of sound have made them hits from Austin to the Ozarks. Festival faves already, it's the Red Stick's turn to get to know and love this eclectic, energetic trio. Saturday, 7:30 p.m. $24.

Traveling blues

Platinum-selling band Blues Traveler will hit the Varsity stage Thursday night. Their best-known song, "Run Around," was the longest-charting radio single in Billboard history. Their new album, North Hollywood Shootout, is just as infectious, catchy and fun as their work has ever been. Tickets are $25. 9 p.m.

The Live after 5 concerts keep on rockin' with Terrance Simien & the Zydeco Experience. Gather at Galvez Plaza downtown with your dancing shoes on and show off your Cajun two-step. It's the best way to unwind after your workweek. Friday at 5 p.m. Free and open to the public.

Up in 'Arms'

Seattle-based prog-post-hardcore rockers These Arms are Snakes will howl at the Spanish Moon on Monday. Made up of members of former pedigreed hardcore bands like Botch, Nineironspitfire, and Kill Sadie, their sound is 100% pure thrashworthy noisemaking, and their live shows are notorious for being an experience as intense as a human-sized meat grinder. 10 p.m. Tickets are $10.
